Minutes:

Considered a report of the Monitoring Officer seeking the approval of the Cabinet Lead Member for Communities, Safety and Wellbeing to make awards under the Member Grants Scheme where the Ward Councillors had declared personal interests that might lead to bias (item 1 on the agenda filed with these minutes).

Further to the report and in respect of recommendation 2, the Cabinet Lead Member was advised that Thurmaston Action Group had now confirmed in writing that it would maintain the strip of land referred to in paragraph 6 of Part B of the report of the Monitoring Officer. Also, in respect of paragraph 7, Councillor Lowe had now confirmed that he wished to support the application concerned with grant funding of £1,000, which would enable the scheme to go ahead.

RESOLVED

1.      that £250 be awarded to The Rectory Wildlife Garden in Loughborough, towards re-building the garden;

2.      that £397 be awarded to the Thurmaston Action Group, towards improvements to a footpath in Watermead Country Park.

Reasons

1&2.    To approve awards under the Member Grants Scheme where the relevant Ward Councillor has declared a personal interest that might lead to bias in connection to the organisation receiving the funding.

The Cabinet Lead Member for Communities, Safety and Wellbeing then signed the Decision Record in respect of this matter.
